Thursday, February 5 - Ribbon Cutting / Grand Opening at Merrill Gardens at Lafayette

 

Join us to celebrate the grand opening of the exciting, new retirement community, Merrill Gardens at Lafayette on Thursday, February 5! Join city and county dignitaries and the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 pm. Mix and mingle with Merrill Gardens residents and neighbors while enjoying their excellent food and wine. Tours of the community available as well. Valet parking.

Thursday, February 12 - Ribbon Cutting at Bay Sotheby's International Realty

Join us for a Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, February 12 at 5pm at Bay Sotheby's International Realty's new building at 3725 Mt. Diablo Blvd. Please note: this ribbon cutting is rescheduled from January 29th.

 

Monday, February 16  - Chamber Office Closed

President's Day The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce office will be closed on Monday, February 16 in observance of the Presidents' Day Holiday.  We will reopen on Tuesday, February 17th at 9:00am.

It's time to claim & optimize your Google Plus Local Business Profile. Google Plus Local replaced Google Maps and "Google Local". If you've claimed either in the past, it's time to update. This is particularly important for businesses with brick and mortar locations.

Wednesday, February 18 at 8am. Workshop location: Lafayette Library and Learning Center's Arts & Science Classroom, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette (Enter from Plaza, off First Street).

His children's book, Dear Primo: A Letter to My Cousin, is our selection for the Book to Action Grant. Lafayette children will read the book and write pen pal letters to school children in Mexico. From rising tuition costs to public concern over sexual assaults on college campuses, higher education faces a growing number of issues as 2015 begins. The University of California, with 10 campuses across the state, is no exception. The system is currently grappling with proposed tuition hikes, student protests and a statewide drop in funding. Join Janet Napolitano and Mark Yudof as they discuss the challenges currently facing America's higher education system and, in particular, the University of California.
