December 1 - 28 - Lafayette Art Gallery new exhibit "Gifts to Remember"

From now through the end of the year, the Lafayette Art Gallery will be featuring unique gifts for the Holiday season. Our artists are creating one-of-a-kind pieces that can make your Holiday gift giving truly individualized, truly special! The Holiday Exhibit showcases an all-new selection of paintings, photographs, ceramics, glass, sculpture and jewelry that offer multiple options for unique gifts, or original artwork to grace your walls.And on December 6th and 7th, the Gallery is featuring a special weekend gift selection, including not only the members of the Gallery but numerous outside artists as well! December 2 - #GivingTuesday

On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, communities, charities, families, businesses, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. Mark your calendar for #GivingTuesday and celebrate a new tradition of generosity. Share the magic of the holiday season by starting with philanthropy; honor your child, grandchild, favorite teacher, or friend by supporting LPIE at this special time of year. Donate at the event or donate on-line at www.lpie.org by clicking on the Donate Now button. Names of donors and honorees will be listed in our annual report.

LPIE will be celebrating #GivingTuesday at both Starbucks locations on Mount Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette from 3-6pm on December 2. When you stop by to get your coffee, we will be celebrating with art, music, and raffles. Come by and visit us.


December 5 - 7 - Santa's Bag Boutique

Santa's Bag Boutique takes place at Lafayette Community Center, 500 St Marys Rd, Lafayette on Friday, December 5 from 11am-7pm and Saturday, December 6 & Sunday, December 7 from 9am-5pm.
Beautiful decorations, holiday gifts and the delicious smell of warm baked treats. Create new memories at the 24th Annual Santa's Bag Holiday Boutique in Lafayette. Featuring over 60 artists with beautiful handcrafted holiday items and works of art. Gift baskets from local merchants and citizens to benefit the Lafayette Community Center. Admission - Free. December 5 - "It's a Wonderful Life" Holiday Celebration

Join us at our 2nd annual "It's a Wonderful Life" Holiday Celebration in Plaza Park at the intersection of Moraga Road and Mt. Diablo Blvd. from 4pm-7pm on Friday, December 5. Come celebrate the holidays with tree lighting, food, drinks, music, entertainment, children's activities,and Santa!

December 6 - 20 - Town Hall Theatre presents It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play
 
It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play adapted by Joe Landry from the screenplay by Frances Goodrich, Albert Hackett, Frank Capra, and Jo Swerling. One of the greatest stories ever told gets a new twist as this beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve. December 7 - Town Hall Theatre presents 'Twas the week after Christmas

'Twas the week after Christmas, a new children's musical by Denver Casado & Brian Dawson.
A hilarious and heartwarming story about what happens when the North Pole loses the Christmas Spirit. It's been years since the Elves and Reindeer have gotten along. The Reindeer egos are high and Elves' productivity is low. Will a week of vacation help remind the Elves and Reindeer what Christmas is all about? FREE ONE-TIME EVENT! December 11 - Coping with the Holidays class

Hospice of the East Bay invites the public to participate in the 28th Annual Tree of Lights ceremony on December 14 at 5:30pm at Moraga Country Club, 1600 St. Andrews Drive.Reception to follow. By dedicating a Memorial Light for a minimum gift of $25, you can honor someone you love while directly supporting end-of-life patient care. Memorial donors of $100 and higher will have the option to have their names listed in the lighting ceremony program of their choice. Funds raised allow Hospice of the East Bay to provide essential programs and services such as the Vigil Program which ensures no one has to die alone and Bruns House, our inpatient hospice facility in Alamo. December 17 - WomenSing's Ring the Bells Concert
 
Under the baton of Artistic Director Martín Benvenuto, WomenSing presents Ring the Bells on Wednesday, December 17, at St. Mary's College Chapel, Moraga. WomenSing rings in the season of light and joy with Ring the Bells, a festive celebration of song accompanied by Latin percussion, chimes, and timpani. The program opens with Bullard's Ring the Bells in a "surround the audience" effect of chimes and voices, immediately followed by the grandeur of O Viridissima Virga by composer Emma Lou Diemer, based on Hildegard Von Bingen texts. Diemer, an important figure in American choral music of the 20th century and the present time, is WomenSing's featured composer for the 2014-2015 season.We add Latin American spice with selections including the beautiful Mexican lullaby, Señora Santa Ana, and the fun of Cantemos a María from the Dominican Republic. The concert closes with Rutter's exquisite Candlelight Carol, sung in the round. Don't miss this joyful concert of the traditional...and the unexpected!

Tickets are $30 for premium seats, $25 for general admission, $20 for seniors, and $10 for students/youth 18 and under. December 19 - Best of CAIFF - Founders Night at the Rheem Theatre.

Best of CAIFF - Founders Night on the third Friday of every month at 7:00pm at the Rheem Theatre. This is a chance to see the BEST films shown so far in CAIFF Film Festival's 17 year history. Sometimes it's a night of Shorts. Other evening it might be a Feature film with one or two shorts, etc. Come in to be surprised! $7 admission - Free for Leading Role Members of the CAIFF.

December 20 - Jazz Series at the Rheem Theatre - Songs of Wine and the Holiday Season
