Sad News from Moraga

Roger Poynts, great friend of the Moraga Chamber, died  in an accident on Sunday afternoon October 26th. The dedicated Civil Engineer had been working for years on a plan to make his 'rock' property a great asset for Moraga: the ambitious plan for the property in the heart of town included a vineyard, a winery, trails, an amphitheater, hospitality area, and plenty of open space. Roger tirelessly met with groups and individuals to build a concensus for the project. The Council was to give a first advice on it this coming January. Moraga will miss this gentleman. The Chamber is deeply saddened by Roger's death. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 22 beginning at 4:30pm at the Orinda Masonic Lodge, 9 Altarinda Drive.

Are you a Good Sign or a Bad Sign?

Lafayette's new Code Enforcement Officer, Adam Foster, will be spending a little more time in our downtown over the next few weeks. He is responsible for enforcing the Sign Ordinance. If a business has a prohibited sign, Adam will pursue administrative remedies pursuant to chapters 1-3 and 1-9 of the Lafayette Municipal Code. Administrative citations and fines may be issued for each day a violation occurs. Listed below are commonly used prohibited signs. Please refer to the Sign Ordinance for the full list of prohibited signs:

A-frame or sandwich board signs
Banner signs (except for temporary signs, as listed above)
Flashing, internally or externally illuminated, moving, rotating, animated or inflated signs
Portable signs (not permanently affixed to the ground or a structure)

A review of the Sign Ordinance will soon be underway. If you have thoughts about the current ordinance or would like to see changes, please contact us at the chamber - [email protected] or let the city's Planning Department know - Srivatsa, Niroop at [email protected]. You can contact Adam directly at Foster, Adam at [email protected] or 925-299-3207
