Sustainable Lafayette presents the film WATERSHED on Wednesday, August 13 at 6:30pm atLafayette Library - Community Hall. Executive Produced and Narrated by Robert Redford and Directed by award-winning filmmaker, Mark Decena, WATERSHED tells the story of the threats to the once-mighty Colorado River and offers solutions for the future of the American West. As the most dammed, dibbed, and diverted river in the world struggles to support thirty million people and the peace-keeping agreement known as the Colorado River Pact reaches its limits, WATERSHED introduces hope. Can we meet the needs of a growing population in the face of rising temperatures and lower rainfall in an already arid land? Can we find harmony amongst the competing interests of cities, agriculture, industry, recreation, wildlife, and indigenous communities with rights to the water? Snacks and coffee provided. | Chamber Board of Directors - Are You Ready to Get Involved? | |
Petitions to run for the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors are now available. The petition must be signed by five current Chamber members and returned to the chamber office by September 15. The term of office for the new Directors will be January, 2015 through December, 2016. Voting will take place between October 1-20. Ballots will be mailed to all Chamber members.
The Chamber Board, comprised of 17 elected representatives, 2-3 appointed directors-at-large, and a number of non-voting advisors, is the policy making arm of the Chamber and has final authority in all decisions affecting the organization. Our 2015 Chamber President-
Elect is Debbie Cooper, Mechanics Bank. Board members are required to attend, the annual Planning retreat on November 8 and monthly Board meetings. In addition, they are expected to actively serve on at least one Chamber committee. For more information call the Chamber office at 284-7404.
