City of Lafayette Backpack Drive

For the second year in a row, Lafayette Staff is sponsoring the " Back to School Backpack Drive"... inspiring folks to lend a helping hand through the purchase of a new backpack and fresh school supplies; two of the most powerful tools in boosting a child's self-esteem as they head off to school. This is how easy it is:

(1) Collect a backpack shopping list from City Offices or download one by clicking here.
(2) Have fun picking out the coolest backpack you can find and shopping to fill it with the supplies on your list. (No red or blue backpacks, please.)
(3) Bring your backpack and school supplies to City Offices no later than Fri. July 25. Please drop them off to the attention of Lisa Martin or Michael Cass.

If you have the desire but don't have the time to purchase a backpack and supplies, feel free to partner with a friend. Or grab your wallet and donate some cold hard cash and City Staff will shop for you. Alternatively, you can write a check to cover the cost of the backpack and supplies ($40.00); please make checks payable to "Family Giving Tree". Envelopes to place your donation may be found on the Planning Counter at
City Offices, 3675 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Suite 210. For more information about the Family Giving Tree, please visit the Family Giving Tree website. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Martin, [email protected] or Michael Cass, [email protected]. Thanks in advance for your generosity!
