Great weather, great music, great food.  You'll find all of these at the market on Saturday.  Ice cream is perfect for summer weather and we are very excited that Weckerly's will be here.  Their ice cream, made with cream and milk only a few miles from the market, is sublime.

More and more produce is coming in and this week- be sure to check out all of the farmers' stands to see what they've harvested.

We have a double header on stage this week.  From 9am to 10am, local teen musicians Alina and Jake will play, followed by perennial favorite Michael Kropp!

SPECIAL GUEST:  Yellow Springs Farm
Located just down the road in Chester Springs Farm raises native plants.  This week they will have Swamp Milkweed- a host plant for Monarch butterflies- and other native perennials birds and butterflies love. We will also have Coral Honeysuckle vines-almost always a big draw for Hummingbirds.

SPECIAL GUEST:  Happy Tails Rescue
Happy Tails Rescue Showcase returns to the market this Saturday!  The Rescue Showcase will invite different animal rescue groups to showcase their adoptable animals on the first Saturday each month throughout the regular market season.  The showcase was created so animal shelters and animal rescue groups can set up at the Phoenixville Farmers' Market, feature adoptable pets, and spread the word about their organizations and the work they each do.

Brandywine SPCA
 

Founded in 1929, the Brandywine Valley SPCA works to end animal suffering and to involve the entire community in the welfare and well-being of animals. Over the past 10 years, we have saved the lives of almost 26,000 animals.
 
In 2015, the Brandywine Valley SPCA was the first open admission shelter in Pennsylvania to achieve "No Kill" status. We care for nearly 5,000 stray, owner-surrendered, and abused and neglected animals each year, and we are achieving positive results for 94% of the animals that enter our shelter. In 2015, we opened the new Animal Health Center in Malvern which provides full service veterinary care, owner intake and surgeries through the Muhly Spay/Neuter Clinic.

DogsHome
DogsHome is a new and unique nonprofit rescue. What sets us apart from other rescues and shelters is that when you adopt from us, you get a dog who's already trained in the basic skills, and we give you our support throughout the dog's lifetime. Two weeks, two months, two years down the road ... if there's a problem, we're there to help.

 

Also, we're tackling the problem of homelessness from both sides: Not only do we rescue dogs from shelters, but we work to prevent them from being left at shelters in the first place, by going into homes and offering training and management strategies and, if necessary, rehoming the dog.   

At DogsHome, we don't care about breed. We don't care about age. We don't care about color or size or physical condition. We go where we're needed.

Tim will be bringing lots of late spring treats on Saturday. Strawberries have been strong this past week, but surely won't last long. Just in time for the summer heat we have pints and scoops of ultra refreshing Strawberry Herb Sorbet alongside classic chocolate mint ice cream sandwiches (made with locally grown chocolate mint steeped in milk from Camphill and cream from Seven Stars Farm. For the die hard fans of local dairy, we have switched out vanilla for sweet cream that captures the amazing flavors naturally present in Chester County milk and cream.


Wild for Salmon
Salmon Lovers: Wild For Salmon will only be at market through the end of June! Captain Steve is preparing to leave for Bristol Bay AK next week! His new crew is all lined up and the salmon prediction for this season is looking bright: it's already shaping up to be a great year! While we're still in Phoenxiville be sure to stock up on all of your wild-caught favorite to get you through the summer: Sockeye portions, Black Cod, Halibut, Noxa Lox, Spread, Salmon Patties and much more. Your grill will thank you!

On June 11th, we will celebrate Second Saturday, from 9am to 1pm.  On the second Saturday of each month, we local artists join the market and bring unique, handcrafted items they have made.  It's our way of supporting or vibrant artist community.  Be sure to mark your calendars and join us!
