Hello Market Shoppers

History sometimes repeats itself, and so does the weather.  It looks like we may have a little rain in the morning, but it should be fleeting.  We are forever grateful for the protection of our beautiful bridge where you will be dry!

We are happy to say that all three of our food trucks will be at the market tomorrow, so be sure to bring your appetite!

It's Second Saturday and that means that local artists will join us and we'll have great bluegrass music courtesy of the Raven Hill Ramblers.

You'll also find local maple syrup from Ridge Valley, and small batch artisan nut butters from Nutty Novelties, in addition to all of our great local food.

If you are a coffee lover, be sure to stop by the market at 9am to see Woody Decasere, Chief Roaster at One Village Coffee,  demonstrate the various methods of brewing your favorite One Village Blend of coffee.  Attendees can enter  a free raffle to win a package of their coffee.  You can sign up for the demo here, but you can also just stop by at 9.

See you at the Market!

Artists coming this week

Bird & Bat Houses by George
George Whittam makes quality, species specific bird, bat and butterfly houses. The bird and butterfly houses are made with solid, 3/4 inch cedar for long life. His workmanship is excellent. Everything is glued and screwed. No nails or staples. Birdhouses sizes range from wrens up to wood ducks. One of his favorite designs is for a Screech Owl and features an easy cleanout panel and built in perch.  All his houses make an excellent gift.

Nomadic Pies

North Star Orchard
This week we'll have some classic favorites on hand: Sugar Snap, Florina, and Razor Russet apples, Hosui Asian pears, and apple and Asian pear cider. Veggies include mountains (literally, depending on your size!) of Romanesco, leeks, and NSO beets.

Plus - the return of dry beans for all of your chili and soup recipes! Over the next several weeks, bean varieties will vary by name and color, but you can pretty much use them interchangeably. Note that since these beans haven't been sitting around for years, you don't need to soak them or cook them forever either. Faster cooking and fresher flavor make local dry beans a real treat!

Time for pie! Join us Saturday October 18th from 2 to 5 on the farm for our last event of the fall: Pie Explorer! This is a chance to not only taste dozens of unique and rare apple varieties (Adventures in Flavor!), but also submit your most delicious, creative, or downright wacky apple-containing pie, crisp, pandowdy, tart, etc. Then dive in and taste-test all the entries and vote for a winner! (Prizes awarded in 3 categories) Full details at northstarorchard.com
