Grace Galanti  & Eckerton Hills Farm

Overlooking the Oley Valley, Eckerton Hill Farm encompasses 58 acres of vegetables, herbs, berries, pastures and hay fields.  This year, the farm is working with Grace Galanti of Aurum Holistic Skincare to grow a variety of medicinal and culinary herbs that can, among other things, spice up your soup, improve your skin tone, help you to breathe easier and even raise your spirits during the waning hours of the day
Special Guest: Playgrounds for Palestine is a 503c non profit featuring fair trade certified organic olive oil from 2013 harvest in Birqin, Palestine. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this olive oil benefits the building of playgrounds in Palestine and neighboring countries that host Palestinian refugee camps. In partnership with Canaan Fair Trade we are featuring 500 ml bottles ($20) and 1 liter tins ($30) of Rumi olive oil and Nabali olive oil. Both are cold pressed and extra virgin. Rumi refers to olive oil harvested from the oldest trees dating back to Roman times and has a strong flavor. Nabali is harvested from younger trees and has a milder flavor. Tasting will be available.

Hello Market Shoppers!

First of all,  thanks to all of you who voted for us in the Best of Philly Hot List- we won!!! And many thanks to our great farmers, artisan food makers, customers, musicians and artists who make our community so wonderful! You are the best!

It has felt like fall on and off for several weeks, but this is the last official Saturday of the Summer.  Now is the time to grab the last of some of the  summer goodies like peppers and tomatoes, and it's also the time to welcome favorite fall greens, winter squash and yes, Asian pears!

This is the Third Saturday of the month when we pay particular attention to health.   You'll find healthful grass-finished beef, wild caught Alaska salmon and  extra virgin olive oil in addition to all of our other wonderful foods.  You may wonder why we have olive oil and salmon when we are a local and producer only market.  Although the Salmon is caught in Alaska, our fisherfolk are from Bloomsburg, PA.  The olive olive oil comes from Palestine, where a local charity,Playgrounds for Palestine, works directly with Palestinian olive farmers who produce the oil.  Proceeds from the oil help build playgrounds so that Palestinian children have an opportunity to enjoy play.

Special activities on Saturday are:

9AM An onstage cooking demo by local cooking school Cooking Spotlight.  Vicky will be cooking Asian pear slaw and a Leek, Fennel & Potato Soup- both sound delicious! You can ensure that you get a seat and a taste by signing up here.  We usually have extra seats so be sure to check out the demo, even if you don't sign up.
