Hello Market Shoppers

It may be September, but we will have lovely summer weather tomorrow morning- perfect for a trip to the market.  And there are lots of reasons to stop by!

If you are a coffee lover, we have a very special treat for you!  At 9am, Woody Decasere, Chief Roaster at One Village Coffee, will be on stage demonstrating the various methods of brewing your favorite One Village Blend of coffee.  A variety of blends (whole beans) will be available to purchase at Artisans booth.  After the demo, Dirk Quinn will wow us with his incredible jazz/funk guitar.

The market will be overflowing with produce- this is the time when you can still find summer favorites like tomatoes and peppers, but also fall greens and winter squash- the cooking and eating possibilities are endless!

North Star will bring its first apple cider- yum!  Of course it is delicious as a drink, but it also makes a wonderful glaze for salmon, pork and winter squash.  We've put a few links in our recipe section. Speaking of salmon, Wild For Salmon will bring a large supply of their 2104 catch!

This is the LAST week to vote for us on Philly Hot List.  If our market is YOUR market (which we certainly hope!), please vote for us here - the deadline is September 7th.

Next week we will have a very special market- It is our Fiber Fest when local farmers and handspinners will bring yarn, woolen items AND live animals- angora rabbits and alpacas.  Look for more info in next week's newsletter.

See you at the Market!

Artisan's Gallery & Cafe
Artisans Gallery & Café is proud to offer our signature house coffee "Artisans", roasted locally by One Village . We selected One Village as our roaster for our "exclusively blended "Artisans" coffee which is served and sold only at our café.  The folks at One Village believe that "delivering the freshest coffee while maintaining a low carbon footprint is important to us so we limit ourselves to locations within 500 miles from our headquarters".    Visit their website www.onevillagecoffee.com for additional information.

Did you just love the grapes last week? Well, there's more on the way! Grape season is short - just a few weeks - so get 'em this coming Saturday and next before they're gone for the year. This week, we'll have 2 or 3 seedless varieties on board!

Plus: several apple varieties, including H______crisp (I think you can fill in the blank), and some late-season peaches will round out the fruit selection. Still clamoring for Asian pears? They're just about ready...maybe for next week though. We'll see - but we'll pick no Asian pear before its time, so if we don't have any this Saturday, check back next Saturday (keeping fingers crossed).

Veggie selections include Farmer Ike's fabulous home-bred sweet peppers in red and yellow (both excellent for roasting - you still have your grill out, right?). Plus Farmer Ike's rainbow beets and other veggies including garlic, tomatoes, Delicata and spaghetti squash, and the start of delicious fall broccoli.

We'll have the first apple cider of the season! It'll be a tasty blend of Showtime!, Honeycrisp, Golden Supreme, and Monolith. Welcome to September!
