JACK'S FARM
 is USDA Certified Organic.

For us that means the hardest thing to control is weeds.
Plastic, flame, hand weeding and mechanical cultivation are all options.
When it comes to the vine crops like fall squash, well, there's really nothing we can do to keep the weeds at bay with out killing the plant.

So we've been walking through the weeds and this week we have a nice selection of fall squash for you.

John and Kira's

makes a great back to school gift for the teachers in your life. Who doesn't love pecan and cashew tortoises,or perhaps some salted caramels? Also, don't forget that 40% of the sales of our Enchanted Garden Collection goes to one of our urban garden partners. This week it is The Urban Nutrition Initiative in Philadelphia, PA. The box contains white chocolate oranges, cinnamon cardamom apples, and brandied cherries. Try them this weekend. Feel free to pre-order!

We are excited to be back at the market and will be here on the 4th Saturday of the month with a selection of our famous canele as well as seasonal tarts.  THis week we will have  Roasted pepper and mushroom with corn custard and basil as the savory tart.  Ginger Gold apple frangipane is the sweet tart.

North Star Orchard

We'll have garlic, wheat, kale, beans, scallions, chard, peppers, and tomatoes (Farmer Ike's reds and Sunkist). Fruit season is still playing catch-up. We'll definitely have apples, but some other items (peaches, plums, etc.) are a guessing game 'til Friday picking time! We're like Ernest and Julio Gallo - we'll pick no fruit before its time!! Have you heard about GMO apples? Be on the lookout... but for now, check out Farmer Lisa's blog post on the subject.

Oley Valley Mushroom
