Hello Market Shoppers!

It will be a cool crisp morning and beautiful day tomorrow-perfect for a trip to the market!  The cooler days and nights are perfect for cooking and you can get so many of the best ingredients direct from our farmers. 

This is the Third Saturday of the month when we focus on health.  Of course we have healthy fruits, vegetables and pasture raise meats every Saturday, but on Third Saturdays, the following special guests join us:
  • Phoenixville Hospital comes to give free blood pressure checks. 
  • WILD For Salmon brings their omega-3 laden sockeye salmon
  • Playgrounds For Palestine brings extra virgin olive oil direct from Palestinian farmers.
  • Bender Health will have free nutritional and health information

Our farmers and food artisans have lots of special items and news this week- be sure to read their information below.

 

Blanko Dave will perform from 10am to 1pm-  grab a chair and listen for a while.

Deep Roots Valley Farm

We are looking forward to Saturday's market!

New products:
We now have 4 oz burgers available along with our normal 6oz burgers for $6/lb.  

Don't forget to try our new raw pet food (ground chicken backs including skin, meat and bone)!  $2.75 for a 16oz container or $5 for 32oz.  

Our gizzard treats have been going very well.  We use the gizzards from our pasture raised chickens mixed with eggs and cook them.  They are $4.50 for 30 treats.

Special this week:
If you love our chicken and want to have some over the winter, now is the time to stock your freezer! We only grow chickens while the grass is growing, we stock the freezer as much as possible but probably won't have enough to make it through the winter. Our chickens are vacuum sealed and will easily last a year in a chest or stand alone freezer.

Right now we are running a freezer stocker sale.
  • 30lbs of whole chickens for $100
  • 60lbs of whole chickens for $195
  • 90lbs of whole chickens for $290
  • 120lbs of whole chickens for $375

Forks Farm

We just butchered two - 24 month old, 100%grass fed Angus beeves.  They were fat and coming off beautiful grass and clover and the meats are incredibly delicious!  Please pass the word.

JACK'S FARM

We are BACK!  We spent most of this week digging potatoes. To dig them we use a middle buster; attached to our tractor this simple device lifts the potatoes out of the ground. That saves our back! Then we collect the potatoes by hand. We'll have a nice variety of potatoes for you this week.

 

Jenny and Frank's Artisan Gelato

Better stock up on the good stuff, because  we will be closed for vacation next Saturday, 8/24.  This week we continue to offer our wonderful Watermelon Mint Sorbetto - amazingly fresh and made with fruit from our friends at Two Gander Farm and herbs from Wimer's Organics!  Also available will be Ginger Peach, the terrific Mixed Berry Sorbetto, and Chocolate Supreme, Rustic Lemon, and Sea Salt Caramel.  Ciao!

 

John and Kira's
makes a great back to school gift for the teachers in your life. Who doesn't love pecan and cashew tortoises,or perhaps some salted caramels? Also, don't forget that 40% of the sales of our Enchanted Garden Collection goes to one of our urban


garden partners. This week it  is Common Good City Farm in Washington DC. The box contains white chocolate oranges, cinnamon cardamom apples, and brandied cherries. Try them this weekend. Feel free to pre-order!  

 

North Star Orchard

so you can see how we grow and harvest our HERITAGE WHEAT!

So, we'll have wheat at the market on Saturday, needless to say! We'll also have: peaches, apples, kale, chard, garlic, Farmer Ike's red tomatoes (our own variety), plus an assortment of other yummy veggies!

Shellbark Hollow Farm

Grab a crispy loaf of  your favorite bread and try it with one of our Marinated Chèvres.  For a fresh crisp flavor with a little spice, try our Herb Blast~ lemon, herbs, chèvre, extra virgin olive oil! We make 3 other types, stop by for a taste.  

 

 

Wild for Salmon

Our 2013 catch is here!  We will have all your favorite salmon products this Saturday - portions and fillets, feta-dill burgers and hot sausage, nova and natural smoked salmon, smoked salmon spread and smoked ravioli.   Stock up for the month if August and we will see you again on our next visit, September 7th.
