Hello Market Shoppers!
The snow should be over for the start of the Winter Market on Saturday morning and we hope you will stop by to pick up some Valentine's goodies! We will have a great selection of unique and delicious items made right in our local community! Bundle up and come on down to join us under the bridge between 10am and noon! You can grab a hot coffee, hot soup or even a hot meal while you shop!
This week Backyard Bison starts their winter pre-order system. If you would like to purchase buffalo, Rod will ONLY bring pre-ordered items. Everyone else will be selling as usual.
A few of our farmers will NOT be at the market this week, because they are at the PASA (PA Association for Sustainable Agriculture) conference. They are: Birchrun Hills Farm, Charlestown Farm, Country Time Farm, Forks Farm. They hate to miss the market but will return with all kinds of new ideas and enthusiasm for farming. Next time, ask them about it. In the meantime, we will still have LOTS of great food, so be sure to stop by!
All good things must come to an end, and sadly, February will be the last month at the market for Barb Shelly of Mountain View Farm. It is not so sad for her though, as she is getting married and moving to Florida. Congratulations Barb! Barb joined the market in 2004, and we have enjoyed her smiling face and delicious poultry ever since. She is part of our market family. You might want to stock up this month or at least stop by her stand to say good bye. We know how important it is to have pasture raised poultry at the market and are pleased to say that a new farm family will be joining us in March. Kelly and Will Smith of Deep Roots Valley Farm are passionate about growing great poultry on pasture. Kelly is the 5th generation on her family farm and she and her husband Will are looking forward to becoming members of our Farmers' Market Family. Look for more information in coming newsletters.
If you haven't come to one of our Winter Markets, please visit us! We all set up in the upper portion under the bridge and make a cozy circle of incredibly delicious food. Chances are that you will have a chance to chat with a neighbor or old friend, and you might even make some new acquaintances!
See you at the Market!!
If there are any late breaking changes due to the weather, we will update our Facebook Page and our website, but as of now, all vendors listed plan to come!
