Hello Market Shoppers!
Once again, the weather should be unseasonably warm on Saturday for our next Holiday Market! Joe Willson will play his wonderful music and there will be LOTS of food producers and artists.
Calling all dull knives! Neil's Sharpening Service will be here to sharpen them while you shop. There are too many special producers and products at the market this week to list them all. Take a look at their information below and then browse their stands at the market tomorrow- you won't be disappointed!
LATE BREAKING NEWS: The Market will now be open every Saturday from 10am to noon until December 29th (December 8, 15, 22 & 19)! You will be able to stock up on farmers' market goodies to ring in 2013- we can't think of a better way to welcome the new year!

This year, we have combined our products into holiday gift baskets, which can be purchased at the Farmer's Market or at the café. They include a piece of pottery, One Village Coffee, Marci Morsels cookies, toffee or granola, holiday soy candles etc., keeping with the buy local theme. Here is a great recipe using our mushrooms and radishes and garlic from Charlestown Farm-
Roasted Trumpet Mushrooms and Radishes
1-2 bunches radishes
1/4 -1/2 pound Trumpets cut into large chunks.
1 large onion
6 -8 garlic cloves
oil, salt and pepper to taste
Combine all veggies, with oil salt and pepper, roast in hot oven 425 for about 20 mins.

We'll have the last of the Gold Rush apples available for sale by the pound (stocking up bags are all gone for this year), plus carrots, kale, a number of other green leafies, and our applesauce and fruit butters (which make great gifts!). If you'd like a larger supply of jarred items for gift-giving, email Lisa (Lisa@northstarorchard.com) and let her know what you'd like so we can set them aside for you. You'll want to get them this week, as we will not be at market next week!

Olive Oil is so healthful and it makes a wonderful hostess gift- particularly when the proceeds are supporting a good cause! Playgrounds for Palestine is a 503c non profit featuring fair trade certified organic olive oil from 2012 harvest in Palestine.100% of the proceeds benefits the building of playgrounds in Palestine and neighboring countries that host Palestinian refugee camps. In partnership with Canaan Fair Trade we are featuring 500 ml bottles ($20) and 1 liter tins ($30) of Rumi olive oil and Nabali olive oil. Both are cold pressed and extra virgin. Rumi refers to olive oil harvested from the oldest trees dating back to Roman times and has a strong flavor. Nabali is harvested from younger trees and has a milder flavor. Tasting will be available.
