1. You give because you feel a connection to the mission (as in,
wishing it was...or it was...a part of your personal experience);
If you can say that art and poetry helped you through some tough years; that you wish you had a program like ours when you needed help as a young person; that if only someone could have listened to you and shown you that you are a creative genius and can get through the hard times--this is for you.
2. You give because you feel a connection to the population;
If you also care about really struggling young people in our community--youth who have suffered physical/sexual abuse; who live in poverty or are homeless; who have broken family relationships or missing parents; who simply feel disconnected and abandoned by society--this is for you.
3. You give because your friends do (word of mouth);
We can't manage that, but we have included many testimonials on our website and on our Facebook page. Once you see how many people (you might know??) do support Art from Ashes, we hope you'll give, too!
4. You give if there is financial accountability;
5. You give if there is an emotional connection (good stories and testimonials);
Oh yes indeedy. We have those. To read youth poems and stories and testimonials, please click this link.
6. You give if there is a specific need;
If you'd rather give items than funds, please see our wish list. We'd love to have office supplies, art supplies and writing materials for the youth! There are many amazing organizations that feed, clothe and house youth, and studies show that most givers happily donate to such organizations. Art from Ashes helps empower youth to want to live. We absolutely need supplies for that. And supporting our work with funding is an investment in their desire to live--and that changes everything.
7. You give if it's easy to donate;
ColoradoGives or Paypal (or check or cash). Yup, any way you like. And if you'd like to set up regular payments of $10 or more, it's just one click on either site. Please do. It helps with the heart-stopping stress at the end of the year :P
8. You give if it's making the world a better place, because the world can be horrifying;
This one's tough. You probably already know that the way society treats young people is a social justice issue. You probably already know that we spend a fortune on sending youth to prison and on homelessness, when they are so easily restored to their value and humanity through our program. So here's a meme:
