It doesn't take a lot of sophisticated or expensive materials to make a RadJoy Bird for a wounded place.

For the Global Earth Exchange on June 21 artist Koval Grippo made time for what she called "a special prayer day" at the site of the World Trade Center in New York City. To make her RadJoy Bird, she writes, "I found a rectangular take-out box that was not dirty inside and two feathers in the park nearby." Her bird rises with as much noble architecture in its form as that expressed in the new World Trade building in the background.

On June 21 people around the world went to wounded places, shared their stories of what the places mean to them, spent time getting to know the places as they are now, and made a simple act of beauty there.
