A little bit of news from Dr. Maura.
Fighting the good fight.
The producers at Z Living (an online health and wellness channel) recently asked me if I'd like to debate a gynecologist on their web series "Dueling Doctors" on the topic of women's health. As many of my patients know, the state of conventional gynecology treatment deeply concerns me. So, needless to say, I jumped at the chance. Check out the episode with Dr. Nancy Simpkins and me locking horns over topics like PMS, depression and birth control. I kept it friendly, no blood was shed. Not much, anyway.

Herbs Safe for Pregnancy?

Expecting patients often ask me what herbal medicines are safe to take during pregnancy. While many are not recommended, the fact is that there are a good number of safe herbs that truly ease the challenges of pregnancy. Add this to the list of many reasons I adore herbal medicine. Read my latest Huffington Post blog to find out what plants to use for morning sickness, prolonged labor and insomnia during pregnancy.

Provenance Meals

Meal delivery services have sprouted up all over New York and it's hard to separate the good from the bad. So, I've done it for you. After vetting a lot of different companies, Provenance Meals came out on top. Why I love them: organic, whole food menus change weekly, ingredients are sourced from local farmers, and made from scratch in Brooklyn. Provenance, after all, means source. You can customize to make your meals Paleo, vegan or just about whatever you want. Don't you wish you had more time to cook? I do. Until then, there's Provenance.
