The BEST Seat

Matthew 20:16 "So those who are last now will be first then, and those who are first will be last."

On Friday, my sister and I decided to bring our children to the zoo. For whatever reason, ALL of them wanted to sit in the backseat, but only two could fit due to size of their car seats.  So ... my  five-year-old niece was left in tears because she had to sit in the dreaded middle row where her car seat was already positioned.

Little did they all know, that middle seat was the BEST seat because we were on our way to pick up their grandfather...their "Pop," AND he would be sitting in the middle as well!

We did try to quietly explain that to my "middle-seat" niece, but still, our words could not comfort her UNTIL Pop was actually sitting right next to her.

Sure, my niece's reaction may seem "childish," but then again, she IS a child. However, how often do we act in a similar fashion? Maybe,

you are in a situation in life where you don't understand why you are positioned as you are, and you are left wondering why others have the "better seat."

I would like to challenge you today to understand that your "seat" in life may not be as bad as you think. In actuality, that seat may have you strategically positioned for something far greater.

Just as my sister and I tried to gently tell my niece the value of her seat, too often, we also disregard that quiet voice of God...that voice telling us, "It's going to be okay. I've set you up for something great!"

Dear Lord, Help me to always realize the importance of where You've positioned me and who You have positioned me with. When I don't understand Your ways, keep me from feelings of jealousy and inadequacy but instead fill me with Your peace and understanding.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Have I complained about my "position" in life rather than seeking God for His purpose in placing me there?
