Our Moral Compass

2 Timothy 3:16  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right

In preparation for his weekly Bible Study, my husband and I reflected on one of the questions from his workbook. This question pertained to the impact on society from all of the appalling crimes reported on the daily news. In our discussion, I was reminded of what one of my friends recently asked me in relation to something that had been reported on the news ... "Do people no longer have a moral compass?"

In the last few weeks, the beheading of a co-worker in retaliation of an incident at work ... the murder of a real estate agent because she was rich and alone are ONLY two of the examples that have caused me to wonder WHY and HOW these things could be occurring? What makes individuals so completely lose their way?

Thankfully, God has provided in His infinite wisdom a compass for His children to gain KNOWLEDGE of His ways, to find DIRECTION for their lives ... HIS WORD. As today's verse explains, the time spent reading His Word teaches us what is true, makes us realize what is wrong in our lives, and guides us in doing what is right. It has the POWER to permeate and transform our thinking ... to point us to God!

I once read that God gave us the Bible, our moral compass, not only to TRANSFORM us but to INFORM us. However, just as a compass is worthless if we do not act upon what it shows us, the usefulness of God's Word is totally dependent upon our application of it in our lives.

My challenge to you today is to grab hold to Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path." Allow His Word to help you to NEVER forget which way is right and which way is wrong.

Dear Lord, Thank You for loving me enough to provide a way for me to find my way when I am lost ... when I am in need of direction for my life. Help me to always live my life in a manner that is reflective of You!

I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Are you using His Word to guide your feet ... light your path??
