Day 3 of "His Word Does Return Void" Series

What does ANYTHING Mean?

John 14:14 You may ask me for anything in My Name, and I will do it.

Today's verse says that you can ask ANYTHING in Jesus' Name, and He will do it! Does that really mean ANYTHING? My husband often says that if this verse truly meant ANYTHING, we'd all be asking for angels with dump trucks of cash to back into our driveways.

As a good parent, I would not give my son just anything he asks for if it's not good for him. However, I will give him anything good for him and anything that will help him. Likewise, as the BEST parent, God will not just give us anything we ask for, but He will grant ANYTHING we ask in HIS WILL.

The second part of Isaiah 55:11, the focal verse in our series, reveals that God's Word "shall accomplish that which I (God) please." It is HIS Word that will not return void...not OUR every worldly desire...but our GODLY desires.

So, how do we know what His Will and His Word is for each of our lives? It's the same way you know the will of those you are in relationships with. You must simply spend time with Him. (Fortunately, if you are married or dating, the will of God is not as difficult to discover as that of your significant other - lol).

As a woman, I can say that sometimes, we're difficult to figure out...

When a woman says, "I'm fine." She is usually not fine. When she says, "Just do what you want." It means "whatever you want to do, DON'T do it." When she says, "Five minutes"...She means "half an hour." Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Thankfully, there are no guessing games when trying to discover the will of God. His Word is filled with things that He MEANS for us to do...things that if we do, we'll be the recipients of His promises.

But we have to first align our hearts and spirits with His through communication with Him. The best part is that God makes getting to know Him VERY obtainable.

Wouldn't you love to have a manual for some of your relationships with co-workers, your friends or family members? With God, that's just what we have! He provides the Bible to reveal His Will and to demonstrate His power.

I challenge you today to get to know His will and then to passionately and relentlessly pursue His purpose for your life!!!

Dear Lord, Thank You for providing Your Word to make Yourself real to me and to show me Your plans for my life.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Are you passionately pursuing God's will for your life?
