Please God.....
Mark 10:14 When Jesus saw what was happening, He was angry with His disciples. He said to them, "Let the children come to Me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.
I had the awesome privilege of picking up my grandson from school on his 4th birthday. Since I work full-time, I had to re-arrange my work schedule to do so. However, what he shared with me on our way home was well worth the effort.
As he was excitedly telling me about the fun he had being the teacher's helper because it was his special day, he suddenly stopped talking. THEN, he quietly said, "GG, my friends didn't bring me any presents today so I prayed to God." He went on to tell me that He had asked God in his prayer to bring him another birthday present.
HE PRAYED TO GOD! Now, before you decide to help God out in answering my grandson's prayer by going out to buy him a gift, I have to interject that my grandson DID have an early birthday party on the previous Saturday AND had received many gifts - LOL!
During the remainder of the ride to his house, I kept marveling at his childlike faith ... a faith that we are told in today's scripture that we MUST have in order to possess the Kingdom of God. I also reflected on how many times we fail to go to our loving Father in PRAYER when we need something ... a physical or emotional healing, direction for our lives, money to pay the rent, peace of mind, etc.
My challenge to you today is to do as my young grandson did ... bring your requests to God with full assurance that He is capable to make a way when there seems to be no way. We are told in today's scripture that Jesus was angry with His disciples for attempting to keep the children away from Him. Always know that Jesus DESIRES for you to bring your problems to Him ... BUT He expects you to do so with great expectation, with child-like faith.
Just as my grandson DID have a birthday present from his parents waiting for him when he walked in the door of his house, we have great gifts awaiting us in our Heavenly home AS LONG AS we fully and completely BELIEVE in the One who purchased these gifts with His life!
Dear Lord, Please forgive me for those times when I lacked faith ... when I allowed worry and doubts to keep me from laying my requests at Your feet. Help me to always go to You with the heart and the faith of a child - with the unwavering belief that ALL things are possible with You in my life.
I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Have you allowed yourself to drift away from the simple faith of a child to a more complicated way of thinking?
