The Desires of Your Heart

Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

I use cloth diapers on my little boy. I'll give you a moment to roll your eyes. It's ok ... I can take it. A few months ago I decided to attend a cloth diaper event in Baton Rouge. Yes, there are cloth diaper events.  It's strange, I know, but I enjoy them.

I knew there were going to be door prizes. For some reason, I just had a really strong desire to win one even though I didn't know exactly what they'd be giving away.  After all, who doesn't want free useful stuff?

I wondered for a minute if it would be selfish to pray to win one. Undecided, I sent up a short prayer anyway.

When I got to the event, they announced winners of prize after prize, and my name wasn't called. Then ... it was time to announce the winner of the very last one - a diaper in a limited edition print that I wanted to give as a gift to a friend but hadn't been able to find. I thought. "That's it! That's the one I want!"

And guess what!? MY name was called! Was this really important or significant? No. Could I have lived without having this specific diaper to give to my friend? Of course. BUT I wanted it and God cared enough about my desires to give it to me.

Our GREAT BIG GOD loves us enough to care about the LITTLE things that WE care about. It's like getting special treats from our loving Daddy. I challenge you to make your desires known to your Father. Confide in Him, trust in Him, love Him. He not only knows what's best for us ... He also loves to give us special gifts personalized to our specific wishes.

Dear Lord, Thank You for caring about every part of me, both my big concerns and my little joys. I praise You for knowing exactly how and when to bless me with the extra things I love and value.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Are you trusting that God hears and cares about even your smallest requests?
