Let it Go!
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, He is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
After transporting a moving trailer to Texas filled with items from the home that we recently sold, we had to unload the contents of this trailer. As we took one item after another out of the trailer, I would ask my husband the same question - "Do we really need this?"
Of course, since he packed the trailer, he answered with a resounding YES each time I posed this question to him. Since he is a pack rat of sorts, he hung on to items that in my mind could have been disposed of in Louisiana. In his defense, he did have a rationale for retaining each item - LOL!!
Although we ARE keeping ALL of the stuff that we brought to Texas, today's scripture tells us that when we accept Christ we are a NEW creation and that our old nature ... our past ... is gone. I once read that this process is similar to trying on clothes in a store --- "Before you can try on the new stuff, you have to take off the old stuff."
This means that we are to discard our old attitudes, our past hurts, our long-time grudges, our painful mistakes in order to live a Christ-centered life. By doing so, we are then able to experience the joy and peace that is available to those who put their trust in Him.
My challenge to you today is to LET GO of the things that are keeping you from becoming more like Christ each and everyday. Know that He is always there to help you if you are having difficulties replacing old, unhealthy habits with new ones that are reflective of a life surrendered to Him ... a life focused on the purpose that He has for your future.
Dear Lord, Thank You for transforming me into a new creation. Help me to live a life where the old is gone AND the new has come!
I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Are there any areas of your life that you must LET GO of in order to live for God's glory and not your own?
