Special Helper

Psalm 138:8 The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me;Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.

My almost 4-year-old son is a lot like me. He forgets the negative fairly easily and remembers the positive from a situation. My mom has always said that I am a good one to offend because I usually forget what the person has said or done once they say one nice thing - lol.

Consequently, the first week of my son returning to school was great. He was excited to go. He remembered his friends and the fun play time. He had forgotten ALL about sitting still, listening to the teacher and completing tasks..

He is working on it though. On his own, this week he prayed, "Jesus help me to like school!"

While there have been a few rough drop off days this week, today was totally different. He was SO excited. Why? Because he was the SPECIAL helper today! It was his responsibility to bring the snack and help the teacher.

He couldn't wait to get to school. I have never seen him wake up so happy, eat breakfast so quickly and get dressed so fast!

The moral of my son's experience this morning is that when we have PURPOSE in our lives, waking up to face the day is exciting. Getting to work doesn't even feel like "work." There is a new joy and sense of accomplishment.

God has a specific purpose for all of us. I challenge you to evaluate your life and determine whether you are doing something to fulfill His unique purpose for YOUR life. Otherwise, you'll continue to face each day never wanting to get out of bed!

Dear Lord, Help me to identify the purpose You have for my life and show me opportunities I can flourish in that purpose.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection:  Am I doing something each day to fufill God's purpose for my life?
