Every Part Surrendered
Romans 6: 13 - Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God...
One day a woman was pulled over by a police officer in the midst of a complete road rage attack .... inclusive of inappropriate hand signals and verbal statements. Well, the "law-abiding" woman immediately demanded to know WHY she was being pulled over!
The police officer's response was thought-provoking, "Ma'am, although you weren't doing anything illegal, I DID notice that there is a W.W.J.D. (What Would Jesus Do) sticker on your bumper, a cross hanging from your rear-view mirror, and a scripture verse prominently displayed on your back window! Therefore, taking this evidence into account along with your behavior ... I'm going to have to report this car as stolen!"
Now, the thing that jumps out at me in this account is that this woman is quite possibly a God-loving and God-serving woman. However, her downfall in this situation was that she allowed herself to be consumed with anger and rage! Although she may have it all together in other areas of her life, she permitted her frustration and anger to impact her witness for Christ!
We all have areas that we excel in! We may be extremely understanding, honest, faithful, peacemaking...etc. Unfortunately, most of us have areas that we struggle with --- areas in which we have allowed that part of our body ... our life to become am instrument of evil as mentioned in today's scripture.
Sadly, this police officer's first impression of this woman was her "road rage" .... he was not privy to the good qualities that she possessed. My challenge to you today is to go to God in prayer and ask Him to reveal the part of your life that ISN'T reflecting His character. Then, ask Him to help you conquer it for GOOD!
Lord God, I come to You because You are the great teacher, and there are just some lessons that I can't learn without Your guidance! Help me to truly reflect You in ALL situations ... allowing others to clearly see You in how I live my life!
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Are you a representative of Christ in ALL you do OR are there parts of your life that you have not completely surrendered to Him?
