Look in My Eyes

Hebrews 12:2 Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith...

I rarely bring my son to the mall, but since we were looking for a bedspread for his new room, I thought it would be a fun adventure.

While walking from one major department store to another, we started to approach a toy store along the way. I KNEW that if he saw that store, our entire shopping experience would be derailed and that the money dedicated for what he needed would go to what he did not need.

So, as soon as we got closer, I said, "Maddox, look at mom." In order to look at me, he had to turn his head in the opposite direction of the store. In a funny tone and with silly expressions, I continued to say, "Look at momma, look at momma..."

He just thought that was the funniest thing and had no clue what I was doing.

I immediately thought about the distractions that we face in life and how God passionately tries to keep us on track. He reminds us again and again in His word to fix our eyes on Him.

God desires for us to keep our eyes on Him so that we do not get distracted and use our time and resources on what we don't need preventing us from what we do need.

Sure, He desires for us to have fun, and the toy store is not always off limits, but sometimes, He's just saying, "Remove the distractions and let Me lead you to where you need to be."

I challenge you today to fix your eyes on Him. As today's verse reveals, He truly is the "perfecter of faith." He always knows what is best, and always knows how to lead us to the perfect plans He has for our lives.

Dear Lord, When I am tempted to look off course, call out to me so that I can always keep my eyes on You!

I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Have I allowed distractions to keep me from God's plan for my life?
