Continue and Save

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I like to play Super Nintendo every once in a while. Ok, ok, at least twice a week. Even with all of the advances in technology, there's still nothing that can beat the fun of "old school" games.

I was playing recently and after beating a castle level, an image popped up on the screen. It gave me two options: "continue and save" or "continue without save". WITHOUT save!? WHAT?! WHY after I lost about 10 lives falling into lava, dodging fire balls and stones falling down on me would I NOT save my progress?! Why would I want to start from the beginning EVERY time I played this game? WHO would NOT save?!

Then it occurred to me that it happens all the time in real life. God has already beaten the bad guys for us. Victory is OURS through Jesus! Jesus took all of our sins and struggles, our hurts and hardships, all on Himself. He sacrificed Himself for US! So WE can have eternal life! How amazing is that?! The BIGGEST thing there was to defeat us, death, has been conquered!

There are so many times in which I feel that I need to fight over and over again, but the battle has already been won. Things get tough, life feels chaotic, but spoiler alert: the good guys win! We don't have to fight on our own. In Jesus, we have freedom. We have total victory over every situation that may come our way. And no matter what happens in this life, because of what He did for us, we can spend eternity with Him!

I challenge you to remember the amazing sacrifice Jesus has made for us next time you are faced with a hardship. Know that you have the victory through Him!

Dear Lord, THANK YOU for Your incredible sacrifice. Help to remind me when I feel as though I'm struggling alone that I am never alone. Help me to lean on  you during tough times, knowing You have promised to work all things together for my good.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Are you "saving" what God has done for you, or continuing to fight life's battles in your own strength?
