Reacting

Romans 8:31  What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

God had His hand upon Moses' life from the time he was a baby. In order to save him from a terrible massacre, God gave Pharaoh's daughter compassion for Moses causing her to rescue and raise him. Moses was raised as royalty in the Egyptian kingdom by a ruler that was enslaving Moses' people...his biological family.

One day, upon seeing an Egyptian slave master beating one of his people, Moses reacted by killing the slave master and burying him in the sand. After his secret was revealed, Moses fled to Midian to escape punishment by Pharaoh.

You see, although Moses was raised in Pharoah's house, that was NOT who he was inside. He may have "played a part" for years, but he was not an Egyptian ruler. He was an Israelite, chosen by God to deliver an entire nation of people in bondage.

Maybe you can relate to Moses...playing a part or fulfilling a role that you know is not right for you. However, you have a choice in that situation...to seek God's will and direction or to allow things to escalate until you REACT in such a detrimental manner as Moses did.

It can be very frustrating when you have desires in your heart, but you don't know how to achieve them. Moses took things into his own hands resulting in being exiled from his country.

When God spoke to Moses in Midian, He told him to go BACK to Egypt to make a difference. This time, he would not be reacting to the situation. He would be going with God's strategic plan and power resulting in the miraculous deliverance of his people.

I challenge you today to seek God for His direction rather than reacting based upon your own will or emotions...especially those in the heat of the moment. You may feel insignificant and scared, but just as God was with Moses, His power will be with you when you obey His voice!

Dear Lord, Lead me and direct me in all that I do. Help me to always remain calm and heed Your voice.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Have I "reacted" to situations rather than leaning on God's wisdom and direction?
