Why NOT Me?

Matthew 12:15 A large crowd followed Him, and He healed ALL who were ill.

Why NOT Me

I have always believed that God--the Almighty Being Who created the heavens and the earth with mere words--CAN do ANYTHING! I am a third generation minister. I often joke that I cut my first tooth on the church pew because it seems as if we were ALWAYS in church. Consequently, I have seen MANY wonderful miracles take place.

As a teenager, I figured that if God could use others to pray for people and have them healed, He could use me too. I began to pray that God would send someone who was sick in my path. THAT Sunday night, a lady rolled into church wheelchair bound. I knew that this is what I had been praying for and that she'd WALK out of that service!

After church, I prayed for her...and...I didn't see anything happen! I was very disheartened and couldn't understand why God didn't answer my prayers. After school the next day, my grandfather called to tell me some exciting news. After I prayed for that lady, she was able to sleep through the night for the first time in years. She went to the doctor the next day to find that the polyps that had been all over her colon had disappeared. She had suffered for years, and God healed her.

While walking on this earth, Jesus performed many miracles. Now remember, Jesus came to earth as a man and as an example for us to live our lives. Before ascending to Heaven, He told His disciples in John 14:12 "I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father."

God desires for Christians to be used by Him to do miraculous things...yes...ORDINARY people like you and me! Sometimes though, we pray for things and when they don't happen just as we planned, we become so discouraged, and we miss out on the miracle. I thought for sure that lady would walk, but instead, her miracle was the healing of those polyps that robbed her of her sleep nightly.

I challenge you today to pursue a life of holiness, prayer and faith in God. Ask Him to use you to do wonderful things for His Kingdom and then EXPECT the impossible.

Dear Lord, help increase my faith. Please bring healing in my body and allow the Holy Spirit to work in my life that I could share Your love and healing with others.

I thank You Jesus for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Do I expect the impossible in my life?
