Recently my son, Gabe, and I saw the new Transformers movie! In those movies, Optimus Prime - an Autobot and the main protagonist- always offers the human race some words of wisdom meant to inspire peace and to help them believe in themselves! The Autobots have always looked out for the humans and protected them from harm! Sort of like guardian angels!
In this recent installment, Optimus has grown frustrated with the humans because of their recent acts of barbarism towards the Autobots. The humans have been fed lies and have turned on what they knew was good!
The main human character - Cade Yeager - lends Optimus some insight in his anguish over the human's devastating betrayal towards the Autobots! Cade tells him, "We're humans! That's what we do! We make mistakes, BUT so much treasure can come from them!"
If you call yourself blessed, then you can relate to Cade's declaration! Through CONFESSING our sins to God, we are able to receive the treasure of His FORGIVENESS and CLEANSING. There is no price that we can put on having our sins completely washed away.
There are major benefits of confessing our sins. First of all, we are given an opportunity to express that our heart's desire is to turn from our sin. Secondly, we avoid the tendency to remain in a state of denial ... attempting to conceal our sin from God AND even ourselves. Finally, we acknowledge our reliance on God to take us out of our sin.
My challenge to you today is to turn away from your sin ... to seek forgiveness. Just imagine the huge transformation that can occur in your life once you admit your MISTAKES!
Dear Lord, I confess that I'm a sinner. I've made so many mistakes during my life, but I am so thankful for your faithfulness and your willingness to forgive me ... to cleanse me of my sin!
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Is guilt or pride stopping you from confessing your sins and robbing you of your treasure?
