Weak Foundations

Matthew 7:24-25 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

I recently purchased my son a set of building blocks similar to Lincoln Logs. I think that the adults in our family have actually had more fun playing with these than him.

Yesterday while building, he continued to place the heavier pieces on the top of a little foundation. Therefore, the mighty tower we were constructing consistently crashed.

That experience reminded me of our foundation in Christ. Today's scriptures reveal the secret to a strong, indestructible foundation - a foundation on Christ and obedience to His Word.

Strong foundations are vital to successful relationships, businesses, families, etc.

Too often, people build dating relationships on physical affection. They build businesses on their own logic and ambitions. They build families on the expectations set by the world. These actions build weak and vulnerable foundations doomed for destruction.

I challenge you today to always keep Christ at the center of EVERYTHING you do and pursue. However, do not be discouraged if you have realized your past foundations have been poorly built. Seek Him to strengthen your foundations. Obey His Word. It's never too late to start, but it's always a mistake to wait.

Dear Lord, Help me to identify weak foundations in my life and to strengthen those areas. I NEED you to be at the center of my entire life.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Are there foundations in my life that I need to work on?
