A Conversation with God

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding

The Constant Friend Devotions originated from my desire to encourage a friend in her time of wondering WHY she was experiencing cancer for the second time. At the time, I had no answer as to why she had to endure all she was enduring. All I could do was to hold on to today's scripture ... to make it real in her life ... in her heart.

In all honesty, trusting in the Lord with ALL of our hearts and not trying to figure out WHY things are happening to us is a very difficult undertaking when we are being bombarded by fiery darts of physical and/or emotional pain. Wondering why am I going through this is a natural reaction. One that we all experience.

I recently came across the following online post that serves as an awesome reminder of God's promise to work ALL things out for the good of those who love Him.

A Conversation with God

Me: God, can I ask You a question?

God: Sure

Me: Promise You won't get mad.

God: I promise

Me: Why did you let so much stuff happen to me today?

God: What do you mean?

Me: Well, I woke up late

God: Yes

Me: My car took forever to start

God: Okay

Me: At lunch they made my sandwich wrong and I had to wait

God: Huummm

Me: On the way home, my phone went DEAD just as I picked up a call

God: All right

Me: On top of it all, when I got home - I just wanted to soak my feet in my new foot massager and relax. BUT it wouldn't work!! Nothing went right today! Why did you do that?

God: Let Me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning, and I had to send one of my Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that.

Me: (humbled) OH

God: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.

Me: (ashamed)

God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick, and I didn't want you to catch what they have ... I knew you couldn't afford to miss work.

Me: (embarrassed) Okay

God: Oh and that foot massager. It had a shortage that was going to throw out all of the power in your house tonight. I didn't think you wanted to be in the dark.

Me: I'm SO sorry God

God: Don't be sorry, just learn to TRUST Me ... in ALL things, the good and the bad

Me: I will trust You

God: And don't doubt that My plan for your day is ALWAYS better than your plan

Me: I won't God. And let me just tell you God ... Thank You for EVERTYTHING today.

God: You're welcome child. It was just another day being your God, and I love looking after My children.

My challenge to you today is to have an honest conversation with God when EVERYTHING seems to be going wrong in your day. Although you may not obtain all of your answers in this conversation, I am certain of one thing ... you WILL walk away from that conversation with renewed hope in His miracle-working power to transform your situation.

Dear Lord, Help me to always approach You with a steadfast assurance in Your promise to work all things out for my good ... a complete trust in Your ability to protect me, to carry me through ... AND most importantly, a heart of gratitude for what You are doing in and through the things that I am experiencing.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Are you trusting in the Lord with all your heart OR are you depending on your own understanding in the situations that you are encountering?

***Although today's devotion was a little longer, I am hopeful that you were blessed and encouraged to put your trust in Him at ALL times.
