Cheerful Giving

2 Corinthians 9:7 Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.

I have an unbelievably generous person in my life who has blessed me as well as many others in so many ways over the years.  This person not only gives freely of her resources ... she gives of her time.  She can always be counted on to chip in - to go over and beyond what could ever be expected or imagined.

Many times I feel that I have do something extra-special for her.  I want to bless her in the same way that she has blessed so many.  Of course, she does not expect to be repaid for what she does.  In fact, she often has a difficult time accepting my acts of kindness towards her because she gives freely with no expectations of repayment.

Today's scripture states that God loves a cheerful giver. I feel certain that He would prefer for us not to give if we are doing so grudgingly or under compulsion.  He wants us to give because we are responding to what is in our hearts.

I wholeheartedly believe that God often chooses to love and care for others through us. Therefore, my challenge to you is to be open to the opportunities that He places in your life to bless others. If you do so with a cheerful heart, God will not only have an opportunity to bless others through you ... He promises to pour out His blessings on your life!

Dear Lord, My desire is to always give with a cheerful heart ... a grateful heart for all You have done for me. Help me to always be a willing vessel that brings honor and glory to You.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection:  Am I cheerful giver in all facets of my life?
