What Are You Hiding?

Psalm 19:12-13  How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults...Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.

After living with us for a little over a year, my daughter and her family have moved into their newly built house. While packing up the bedroom in which my young granddaughters have slept and played during their time with us, toys and other little treasures as well as items that went straight into the trash were found under the bed, in purses and bags, under the dressers, deep in the closet, etc.

Interestingly, the girls' bedroom always APPEARED to be in order.  The sheets were laundered on a regular basis, the floor was vacuumed and mopped, the furniture dusted, clothing items were put away, and the toys straightened out. BUT ... there WERE things hidden that were not visible to anyone - even us!

In today's scripture, King David cries out to The Lord to cleanse him of any sin that is lurking deep inside of his heart.  He asks God to free him from the guilt of these sins ... to break the control that these hidden sins had on his life.

Just as my granddaughters' bedroom APPEARED to be in order but was not, our lives may APPEAR to be all tidy to others but often contain things hidden from even those closest to us.

My challenge to you today is to go to God in the same manner as King David did. Ask Him to reveal any hidden areas that you need to clean up ... any trash in your life that needs to be thrown out ... any faults that you just might not realize that you possess.

Dear Lord, Help me to see what is hidden in the deep recesses of my heart.  I admit to you today that I need Your help in sorting these things out. My desire is to always live a life worthy of You.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection:  What are the things in your life that you are hiding from others ... attempting to hide from God?
