Too Many Eggs for One Basket
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Yesterday, a friend of mine from our church and I went shopping for Easter items that may be on sale. She is a kindergarten teacher and needed items for her students next year and both of us were looking for deals for our church. We were excited to discover items at 50% off at one store.
So, we did what any reasonable people would do... we bought 5000 Easter Eggs for an Easter Egg hunt next year lol! We love planning ahead, and we love blessing our children.
Of course, people laughed as we maneuvered through the aisles with four baskets full of little plastic eggs. In response to their reactions, I said, "At least we're not putting all our eggs in one basket." Much like the humor of a young child, it was funny the FIRST time. (However, I continued to say the cheesy joke).
After our great shopping trip, I begin to reflect on why those eggs were so cheap. It was a basic supply and demand situation. Now that Easter is over, there is no need for these eggs.
It saddened me as I reflected on the same thing happening in our lives and churches. People flock to church on Easter day, they are filled with tears as they remember The Lord's sacrifice, and they thank Him for the PRICE that He paid.
However, when the holiday is over, we often "cheapen" the price and consequently the value of His sacrifice.
I challenge you today (much like yesterday's challenge) to daily reflect on what He has done for you. Don't lose the passion of the cross, and never stop sharing His love with your family and friends.
Dear Lord, Thank You for what You have done for me. Forgive me for times that I minimized or neglected your sacrifice.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: What can I do to keep the resurrection alive in my life?
