Standing Firm When ... It's the RIGHT Thing to Do

1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

Many years ago my husband walked away from a very lucrative job because he did not agree with and could not live with a decision that was made on the job site. Unfortunately, due to my husband's stance, our finances, our security, our way of life were placed in jeopardy.

Although I could UNDERSTAND why he did what he did, I cannot honestly state that I was at the time in agreement with his actions.  Sadly, he did not receive the full support from his wife ... the one person who should have been in his corner, should have trusted in his judgment.

Eventually, his courageous action led to a better job - one that paid well and provided more time for our family to be together.  I believe that God blessed him for not backing down ... regardless of the consequences.

Last week, we saw the movie, God is Not Dead.  As I was watching this movie, I could truly relate with the college freshman who had to take a stand when his faith was being challenged ... a stand that involved going against the advice of his long-time girlfriend and parents.

My challenge to you today is to do what my husband did when placed in a situation that he could not ethically go along with ... do what the young college student did when faced with a decision to deny the existence of God ---- STAND FIRM!  Hold on to the encouragement of today's scripture, be courageous, be strong in your faith!

Dear Lord, Help me to always find strength in You to do the right thing.  Even when it is not the easy way out or the logical response according to those close to me, strengthen me to make a decision that You would applaud.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Would you be strong enough, courageous enough to go against the advice of those you love because you just knew that it was the right thing to do?
