Look Around and Take Action

Philippians 2:4   Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

According to a fairy tale, a heroine was given an impossible task to prove her worthiness of love. She was placed in front of a mountain of flax, oats, rice, and millet and told to separate all of the grains. She wept at the enormous task set before her, but she was not as alone as she thought.  Tiny ants heard her crying and took pity on her. With their small size and great numbers, they made short work of the grain pile. Where the young woman could not succeed alone, others came alongside and helped her through.

Have you ever been in this heroine's situation?  Faced with a task that seemed so daunting that you could not even imagine how you were going to accomplish it.

When we are faced with difficult trials, God wants us to remember we are not as alone as we might feel. With the help, prayers, and encouragement of our friends and family, our discouragement melts away ... just like the heroine's pile of grain.

Today's scripture encourages us to address the needs of others as well as our own. My challenge to you today is to LOOK AROUND for those in your life who are experiencing overwhelming situations and to TAKE ACTION. Let them know that they are not alone ... show them the love of Christ ... be the beacon of light that can lead them directly to Him!

Dear Lord, Keep me from being so consumed with my own life that I fail to see what others are going through.  Help me to be a blessing to them in their times of need.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: When is the last time you put the needs of others before your own?
