Here's a Token
Hebrews 13:2 Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it.
After presenting information about my school district at a local university, I was provided with three CRISP dollar bills by a university representative to cover the cost of the parking. This person explained that worn dollar bills were not accepted in the parking meter.
Unfortunately, on this particular late RAINY afternoon, the parking meter did not cooperate ... even with the CRISP bills. During the process of attempting to feed the dollar bills into the machine, I anxiously looked in my rear view mirror to ensure that there were no cars behind me. Thankfully, the parking lot was almost empty.
When I finally admitted defeat, I decided to call the HELP number that was printed on the parking meter. As I was doing so, there was a knock on my window. To my surprise, a woman was standing in the rain offering a TOKEN to me.
I rolled down the window, and she said, "Here's a token." Stunned ... I smiled at her and took it. To my relief, the parking meter ACCEPTED that token. As I left the parking area, I realized that a university dispatcher had answered my call. After relating what had just happened to the dispatcher, he said, "There ARE still good people left in this world."
My challenge to you is to realize as today's scripture states that the strangers that we encounter on a daily basis may actually be angels sent by God to help us OR to see if we are willing to do God's work ... which could mean getting out of our car in the rain to give a stranger a TOKEN. I encourage you to always strive to be one of the good people left in this world!
Dear Lord, I thank You for faithfully providing ALL that I need at ALL times. Help me to recognize and respond to the opportunities that You present to me in order to bless others.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Would others consider you to be one of the good people left in this world?
