This past week-end was a tough one for me. My back went out resulting in more pain than I have ever encountered in my life. Even the pain associated with my fractured shoulder pales in comparison.
When the excruciating pain threatened to consume my body, I was reminded of today's scripture. At that moment, I realized that I had two choices. I could wallow in my pain and ALLOW it to consume me ... OR ... I could turn to my God who is always faithful ... whose compassions are new every morning.
I once read that when our world is falling apart, it is "easy to focus on the pain, the problems, the pressure, and the difficulties." We do this because it is a natural response in these overwhelming situations.
My challenge to you is to avoid the natural response of focusing on your dire circumstances. Instead, I encourage you to take the Biblical response ... turn your focus to God.
Remind yourself of how much He loves you ... of the great plans that He has just for you ... of His promise to be with You at ALL times. Know that it is never too late to go to Him because His compassion is NEW every morning!
Dear Lord, Help me to turn to You when my world seems to be falling apart. Let me stop focusing on what I am going through and begin focusing on what I have in You ... Your love, Your compassion, Your faithfulness.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Is there a situation in your life in which you have allowed yourself to be consumed ... failed to realize that God's great love and mercy is always available to you?
