Recognizing the "Snakes"
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
My husband had me speak to our church last Sunday, and I shared this story that has always made an impact in my life.
It's a story about an innocent little girl. Although it's fictional, there is MUCH reality found in this story.
Once a girl was walking in the forest when she discovered a snake. The snake asked her to carry him to his destination. The little girl told him that there was no way she could carry him because he was....after all... A SNAKE, and he would SURELY bite her!
The snake explained to her that he was a "nice" snake and that he would NEVER dream of biting her. Against her better judgment, she carried the snake. Right before she reached her destination, what did that old snake do? HE BIT HER!!!
Devastated and in excruciating pain, she asked him, "Why did you bite me? I thought you were a nice snake." He replied, "You knew who I was when you picked me up."
My challenge to you on this Sunday is to evaluate the things that you have chosen to pick up, to participate in or to carry in life. Are these habits truly beneficial to your life, your family, and your relationship with God?
If not, make adjustments NOW before the venom of the enemy would try to ensnare you. If you find yourself in a place where you feel trapped, know that there is ALWAYS a way out with God. Seek His face, get in His presence and you'll find shelter and peace.
Dear Lord, Help me to recognize the things that are not good for me. Thank You that all GOOD gifts come from You!
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Have I allowed deception to come into my life?
