Running a Race That Matters
Matthew 25:23 The Master said, "Well done, My good and faithful servant."
In the last three weeks, I have attended memorial services for two individuals that I truly loved and admired. The words spoken at their services were ones that honored these individuals greatly....words that paid tribute to the Godly lives that they had lived.
I am certain that the Pastor who conducted both of these services did not have a difficult time in his preparation of what to say about them. They were both such awesome examples of not only finishing the race of life but of running races that mattered .... each worthy of receiving the eternal prize of everlasting life with Jesus!
As I reflected on their lives, I was reminded of a saying that I once read on a T-Shirt: "Live your life so that the preacher doesn't have to lie at your funeral." My challenge to you today is to run a race that counts for God - taking the time to love others and to build lasting relationships.
Then ... when it is time for your race to end, you will know that your Pastor as well as everyone you have touched in your lifetime will have good things to say about you because you lived a life that mattered!
Dear Lord, My greatest desire is to hear You speak the words of today's scripture to me when I complete my race. Help me to live a life worthy of You.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: What good things would my Pastor have to say about me if my race would end today?
