Walk THAT Way
1 John 2:6 Whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked.
As mentioned in a previous devotion, our family participated in a local race. Initially, our three-year-old son did not know what to think of this experience.
Since he was surrounded by several strangers at the beginning of the race, he wanted me to hold him. Then, when he finally decided to walk alone, he noticed an older man powerwalking. That's when my son made the decision to "walk THAT way."
What came next was a hysterical version of powerwalking. He hunched his back, balled his fists, flailed his arms, and quickly walked as he looked at the ground.
In his young mind, he was imitating what he saw.
This example (while humorous) is a very somber and true reminder that others ARE watching how we run our race. They are studying where we are going and how we are getting there.
My challenge to you today is to always realize that the race you are running is never impacting just you. There are people around you... possibly your children, friends or other believers... who are watching your every move AND following your every example.
Dear Lord, Help me to always be a genuine example of You - the GREATEST example. Let MY walk be an example of YOUR walk.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Am I living my life in such a way that I want those around me to emulate?
