Carried Across The Finish Line

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon The Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Yesterday, our church participated in a local race for a foundation that helps babies and their families in the local NICU. For me, the best part of walking was watching the parents in the Fun Run.

One of our mothers strolled her 6-month old in the 5k. In the one mile Fun Run, another mother carried her one-year-old on her back, and one even carried her baby on her shoulders! Then there was one mother who lagged behind with the rest of us as her son won the race!

These various examples reminded me of a reality in our Christian walks. There are times that we as believers need to be carried to the finish line. Maybe we are new to the faith or maybe we're just going through difficult times. At some point though, we're strong enough to race ahead (sometimes even further than our teachers) because of the love and kindness that was poured into our lives.

My challenge for you today is to make a point to thank those who have poured into your life...maybe a parent, a sibling, a teacher or a spiritual leader. Thank them for the times they carried you. In addition, identify people that you can boost onto your shoulders as you cross the finish line enabling them to go further than they ever dreamed possible!

Dear Lord, I thank You for placing people in my life to lead and direct me. Help me to recognize and respond to the development of those you have placed in MY life as well.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Who can I contact today to thank for the times they carried me? Who can I assist today in helping them reach their potential?
