Rubbing it In
1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Several months ago, my little boy truly devastated me. After I planted the sweetest kiss on his cheek, he said and motioned that he was "rubbing it off."
My kiss!?! How could my little boy rub off his mama's kiss! Thinking quickly, I told him, "You think you're rubbing it off, but you're actually rubbing it IN. It will now be there forever!"
From that point on, we had a new game! We rub our kisses in.
Recalling this incident caused me to reflect on how many times does God Almighty...Our Father...Our Provider...Our King...pour out His love on us only for us to disregard it...to "rub it off."
Today's verse says that "God is love." He is our love...unless we know Him, we can't even effectively love others. God desires to leave a permanent mark on us through His love.
A mark so strong that others recognize that we have indeed received His love...that we've "rubbed" it so far into our lives that everything we do is a reflection of THAT love!
I challenge you today to realize that you ARE loved by God. Receive the love that He has for you, "rub it in," and let others see and experience His love through your life.
Dear Lord, Thank You for loving me...even during times that I rejected You. I receive all that You have for me!
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Have I disregarded God's precious love for me? Am I sharing that love with others?
