He IS Our Father
On our way to Church yesterday, my husband and I were discussing the different names given to God. When I asked him which name he most frequently used when referring to God, he answered "Father" without hesitation. His reasoning was based on today's scripture where Jesus provides an example of how to pray.
Jesus begins His model prayer in Matthew 6 with Our Father ... He gives us the awesome privilege to CALL OUT to God not as a stranger but as His child. We are able to go to Him with the knowledge that He loves us - that He knows who we are - that He knows what is best for us.
My challenge to you today is to address God as your "Father." By doing so, you can approach Him with more confidence, thanksgiving, and intimacy knowing that you are going to Him as His child. Never cease to reflect on the comfort that is available to you in His loving presence ... as a member of His family ... as a recipient of His unconditional acceptance.
Dear Father, I am so blessed to be Your child - made in Your image. Thank You for providing the perfect example for all earthly fathers. Help me to always be reminded of Your promise to never leave me or forsake me.
I also thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Are you living a life that is reflective of being a child of the Most High? |
