Proverbs 16:9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
The focus of yesterday's devotion was on slowing down and cherishing all of our todays rather than worrying about our tomorrows.
While this is critical to our spiritual maturity and general well-being, I believe wholeheartedly that God desires for us to ACT on what He has placed in our hearts to achieve ... the good plans that He has for our future. In fact, He commands us in Habakkuk 2:2 to write a vision and make it plain. Likewise, in Proverbs 29:18, He warns that we will perish without a vision for our lives.
Today's verse adds that after we plan out our course ... our vision, God will work out the details. It is important to note that His way of working out the details (determining our steps) may not always be our desired method OR even in our timing. Regardless of our thoughts on the matter, we must put our trust in Him ... believing that He knows what is best for us AND that He will provide what we need for ALL of our tomorrows!
I once read that "if you don't have a plan, God doesn't have anything specific to direct you in." My challenge to you today is to do your part --- plainly write down the vision for your life that He has given to you. THEN, allow Him to work out all of the details.
Dear Lord, I thank you for directing my path and making my way straight. My desire is to always willingly and humbly follow where You choose to lead me.
I also thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that you are Lord and God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life. In the Name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Reflection: Are you allowing God to direct your steps each and every day?
