Can You Hear His Voice?

John 10:27  My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

The best thing about spending a few days in Texas is the "quiet" ... the "solitude." Sadly, it is often very difficult to hear God's voice in the midst of our busy lives. The static produced by our "busy-ness" can actually block communication with Him.

I was recently speaking to two of my friends who have made the decision to give up something diferent every month for this entire year in order to focus more on God ... to receive direction from Him for their lives. As today's scripture promises, they want to hear from Him ... AND they want Him to know them. At this time of the year, millions of individuals are also making the decision to give up something for 40 days.

Doing without or fasting for one day, one week, 40 days, or for one year enables us to tune out the world's distractions to focus on Him. My challenge to you today is to spend some time reflecting on your relationship with God to determine if you are hearing His voice or if the static of your life is blocking what He is trying to communicate to you.

Dear Lord, I thank You for Your everlasting love. Please forgive me for those times when my life is too loud to hear Your Voice. Help me to redirect my attention to You. My desire is to always hear You clearly!

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: If you are having difficulties hearing His voice, what could you give up to draw closer to Him?
