Standing Up for What is Right
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
While surfing through the channels, I stumbled upon an old episode of Little House on the Prairie. Since this was always one of my favorite television series ... I realize that I am dating myself - LOL ...I decided to watch it.
In this episode, Laura is attending a summer school session in another town. The professor keeps her after class one day with a proposition - he would like to spend time with her in the evenings. She, of course, informs him that she is married and could never do this.
When the professor reminds Laura of the possibility of her grade being impacted by her decision, she does not back down. She stands up for what she believes in ... she upholds her convictions of right and wrong.
The word conviction is defined as the feeling of being sure that what you believe is true. Laura chose to live by today's scripture - completely certain that God would make a way for her in this situation.
My challenge to you today is to always realize that our convictions determine our conduct. Immerse yourself in His Word. Know that the biblical convictions that we absorb through spending time with Him are essential for our spiritual growth and maturity.
Dear Lord, I know that Your Word is my source of wisdom and guidance. Help me to apply its principles in my everyday life.
I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.
Reflection: Do your convictions motivate you to act according to the biblical truths found in His Word?
