God's Taking My Picture

Psalm 23:4 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

I recently read a story about a little girl who walked to and from school daily. The weather one morning was questionable and clouds were forming, yet she made her daily trek to the elementary school.

As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with thunder and lightning. The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school so she got into her car and drove along the route to her child's school.

As she did so, she saw her little girl walking along, but at each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look up and smile. Another and another were to follow quickly and with each the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile. When the mother's car drew up beside the child, she lowered the window and called to her, "What are you doing? Why do you keep stopping?"

The child answered, "I am trying to look pretty. God keeps taking my picture."

Numbers 6:25 says, "The LORD make His face SHINE on you and be gracious to you." Although the thunder may be loud and the sky may be dark, know that God is still with you. When the "sky lights up" know that He is there. He is with you, protecting you, directing you...  In the midst of your darkest hours, take time to stop and find Him even in the storm.

Dear Lord, Thank You that You are always there for me. Thank You for your love and protection.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Have I focused too much on the storm rather than putting my faith in God?
