Not Responding

Psalm 37:7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him...

While doing some very important work on my computer, I received one of those dreaded "not responding" messages. I was still able to move my mouse, but the program was "thinking."

This has happened before, and I am sure it has happened to you as well. At that moment, you have two choices. You have the choice to keep clicking until something occurs or to just sit and wait.

Most of my work is done on the computer, and what I have found to be most successful in these situations is to just allow the computer a moment to get itself together. Often, when I begin to click and re-click, the program automatically closes ... and I lose much of my work. My aimless efforts just make it worse.

Have you ever been there in life? Nothing seems to work right? Your best efforts just make things worse? In these times, you also have a choice. You can continue to try to make things work in your own power. However, this course of action usually results in much more of a mess. The next choice is better. You can stop for a moment and do as today's verse urges - "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him."

I challenge you today to give your situation to God. That doesn't mean that you need not act at all. It simply means that you take time to bask in His presence and seek Him for the direction you need to take.

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Is there an area of your life you need to wait on The Lord rather than pursuing your course of action?
