Don't Dare Compare

2 Corinthians 10:12 Not that we dare to classify or compare ourselves with some of those who are commending themselves. But when they measure themselves by one another and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding.

I am sure this week our northern friends have had a good laugh at the "south's" response to a "snow storm." I've even seen (and chuckled at) posts on social media sites that say things such as, "Louisiana snow storm" with a photo of a few pieces of ice on a lawn chair - lol.

As funny as it may seem, in actuality, officials have closed school and roads for a purpose. Because we are not accustomed or prepared for this type of weather, driving on icy roadways could be fatal. What is especially dangerous is when people minimize the effects of the weather based upon the fact that this is a "normal" day for people up north.

Likewise, comparing your situation to another's situation is often dangerous. We were all created with different strengths and abilities. To minimize what someone is going through because you may have handled the same situation with ease shows a lack of understanding as today's verse explains. In addition, beating yourself up because you do not feel like you have measured up to those around you is quite dangerous as well.

I challenge you today to always keep your eyes on The Lord. Don't allow yourself to be consumed by the success or failures of others .When doing so, you'll miss out on the miracle God has for YOU. Trust His timing... His plan...

Dear Lord, Thank You that You created me to be me - a unique, purpose-filled individual!

I thank You, my Jesus, for dying for me. I believe that You are Lord and that God raised You from the grave so that I can have eternal life.

Reflection: Have you allowed the successes and failures of others to discourage you from your purpose?
